Afghan Bread Rolls

As I promised, here is the recipe for the last post.  Please keep in mind that this batch looks slightly different due to some Parmigiano-Reggiano on top.  In the near future, I will post some healthier versions of this recipe.  Please try it and let us know.

Ingredients:
  1. 4 cups of all purpose flour
  2. 1¼ tsp of salt
  3. 1 Tbsp of sugar
  4. 1½ cups of water(room temperature)
  5. 2 tsp of dry active yeast
  6. 1 tbsp of apple sauce
  7. 1 tsp of butter
  8. 1/8 canola oil
  9. 1 egg
  10. 1 tsp of water
  11. some sesame seeds or poppy seads
Direction:
  1. Mix #1 & #2  ingredients
  2. Dissolve #3, #4 and then mix #5 until the mixture foams
  3. Combine steps 2 and 3 and knead for 3 min
  4. Mix #6, and #7 #8 to the dough and knead for another 2 min
  5. Let dough rise to more than double its original size
  6. Divide the dough to 16 equal size with minimal handling
  7. Beat the eggs and 1tsp of water and brush on the dough
  8. Sprinkle either the sesame or the poppy seeds & let it rise for 20-25 min
  9. Preheat oven to 360° with the pizza stone
  10. Bake for 20-22 min
  11. Let it rest for 15 min and Enjoy!
